The Artist
Marcus Santero divides his time between baby sitting his grandson, teaching computer courses on the Web, painting in various styles, and sculpting silver statuettes. His nom de plume was given to him by Argentine friends who delight in his work.
Marcus Santero has always been fascinated with sculpture since he admired a statue of Alexander the Great by Praxiteles at the Louvre. The idea for his Virtual Gallery was born from the words of André Malraux author of the Musée Imaginaire de la Sculpture Mondiale: "Since the death of Michaelangelo until the birth of modern art, sculpture became a dialog with the past", and Rodin's "the lines and nuances are for the artists the signs of hidden realities."
He spent innumerable hours in museums particularly the Louvre, the Musée Rodin, and the Musée de l'Homme in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and western museums in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico, absorbing the art of the masters.
